The goal in this "secret garden" was to create a mystical space where adults as well as children would be drawn to play and relax. This truly custom water garden design features a "hobbit like" tree house that rises organically from a seemingly deep, overgrown marsh.

The tree house was built at the Liquid shop and brought to the location in 3 separate sections. In keeping with our philosophy of organic production wherever possible, the wood used for construction came from a large tree removed from another site. The tree was cut into framing timber and custom rough-hewn siding, using a locally sourced saw mill in Pennsylvania.

The seemingly bottomless pond surrounds the structure on 3 sides, and to everyone's surprise, this unique water feature design averages just 12" deep. An organic black dye creates the illusion of depth. In keeping with the magical waterscape, large bluestone step stones appear to float by supporting them from below the water surface.

Thick masses of plants, both aquatic and non-aquatic, are placed in and around the outside edge of the pond, softening the edge and adding to the allure.
